Mechanism Registry — Vessel Mechanics Model
How the theory says continuity occurs.
A resemblance is not a mechanism. A recurring role is not automatically reincarnation. A bloodline theory does not explain a simultaneous manifestation. These models may overlap. They may also contradict one another. Contradiction is logged.
M01 — Bloodline Carry
Status: ACTIVE. Model complexity: LOW.
A trait, entity, influence, role or recurring frequency moves through biological family lineage.
Expected markers
- documented genealogy
- inherited morphology
- recurring physical traits
- repeated social role across generations
- family-linked institutional power
- continuity inside known bloodlines
Contradictions
- no biological relation where the hypothesis requires one
- claimed continuity crossing unrelated lineages with no additional mechanism
- physical continuity unsupported by genealogy
Conventional alternative
Ordinary heredity, inherited wealth, social networks, family culture, dynastic opportunity.
If true, expect
- a traceable genealogical link between subjects
- morphological traits recurring within the documented line
- role inheritance following the family, not the era
- the pattern weakening as the blood relation thins
Compatible with: M04, M05
Bloodlines are annoyingly effective at producing both inheritance and conspiracy theories.
M02 — Vessel Transfer
Status: ACTIVE. Model complexity: HIGH.
A persistent non-human entity or consciousness leaves one human container and enters another.
Expected markers
- sequential identities
- an apparent handoff
- recurring physical markers
- role continuity
- behavioural recurrence
- a gap between prior and later identity
Contradictions
- LIFESPAN_OVERLAP — subjects alive at the same time, if the model assumes one body at a time
- no transition window locatable in either public record
- successor emerging well before the prior identity exits
Conventional alternative
Unrelated people who resemble one another, occupying a similar role in sequence because the role outlived its occupant.
If true, expect
- an identifiable transition window
- prior vessel exit before successor emergence
- recurring distinctive markers across the handoff
- role or function continuity through the transition
Compatible with: M04, M05, M07
Tension with: M06
If Subject B is allegedly Subject A's next vessel while Subject A is still alive, M02 cannot explain the case without invoking another mechanism.
The handoff model works considerably better when both alleged vessels are not alive at the same time.
M03 — Re-Skin Event
Status: EXPERIMENTAL. Model complexity: HIGH.
The same underlying identity continues while the outward human presentation is substantially altered or replaced. Not necessarily birth-and-death reincarnation — the transition may be immediate or operational.
Expected markers
- abrupt appearance change
- apparent behavioural discontinuity
- persistent distinctive markers across the change
- public identity transition
- an alleged replacement event
- unusual timeline continuity
Contradictions
- the change is fully accounted for by a documented ordinary cause
- no distinctive marker survives the transition
- presentation shift is gradual rather than event-shaped
Conventional alternative
Ageing, cosmetic surgery, illness, weight change, styling, photographic distortion, or an ordinary shift in public persona.
If true, expect
- a datable event separating the two presentations
- at least one marker that survives the change unaltered
- behaviour discontinuous at the same point the appearance is
- no ordinary cause sufficient to explain the whole shift
Compatible with: M04, M05, M07
Tension with: M09
M04 — Archetype Recurrence
Status: ACTIVE. Model complexity: LOW.
The repeated element is the role, not necessarily the biological person. The Codex already carries many role-based recurrences — the Blonde Goddess, the Sonic Carrier, the Controlled Dissident, the Wordsmith Vessel, the Permitted Dissident Wit.
Expected markers
- recurring public function
- similar narrative arc
- similar cultural role
- repeated rise and fall structure
- consistent symbolism
- industry succession
Contradictions
- the role does not actually recur once the era is accounted for
- similarity is physical only, with no functional overlap
Conventional alternative
Cultural recycling, branding, archetypal storytelling, commercial imitation.
If true, expect
- the role persisting while the occupants demonstrably differ
- succession timed to the culture's needs rather than to any lifespan
- the same narrative beats recurring under different names
Compatible with: M01, M02, M03, M05, M06, M07, M08, M09
Humans recycle archetypes professionally. Hollywood has departments for this.
M05 — Consciousness Continuity
Status: ACTIVE. Model complexity: HIGH.
A persistent consciousness appears across multiple identities. Physical resemblance may or may not occur. Where M02 is oriented on containers and transfer, M05 is oriented on continuity of awareness — they are not the same claim and should not be merged.
Expected markers
- recurring worldview
- unusual behavioural similarities
- repeated creative themes
- similar mannerisms
- continuity claims across time
- memory or identity mythology
Contradictions
- the shared worldview is common to the period rather than the person
- continuity asserted with no behavioural through-line
Conventional alternative
Shared influences, a common tradition, or deliberate homage by a later figure who admired the earlier one.
If true, expect
- preoccupations recurring that the era does not explain
- mannerisms persisting across otherwise unrelated identities
- the continuity holding even where physical resemblance fails
Compatible with: M01, M02, M04, M06, M08
M06 — Simultaneous Manifestation
Status: EXPERIMENTAL. Model complexity: EXTREME.
A single source entity, frequency or consciousness may appear through multiple human identities at the same time. Relevant precisely when alleged continuity subjects have overlapping lifetimes.
Expected markers
- concurrent identities
- similar role patterns running in parallel
- recurring biometric claims across contemporaries
- parallel public functions
Contradictions
- invoked solely to rescue a failed one-to-one continuity claim
- no parallel structure beyond the overlap itself
Conventional alternative
Contemporaries shaped by the same moment, resembling one another because the moment selected for the same qualities.
If true, expect
- parallel identities sharing markers while demonstrably co-existing
- role patterns synchronised rather than sequential
- the pattern surviving after the overlap is removed from evidence
Compatible with: M04, M05, M08
Tension with: M02
This model resolves chronological overlap at the cost of a substantially larger metaphysical burden. Resolving a contradiction is not the same as producing evidence.
The chronology survives. The ontology gets expensive.
M07 — Extraction Redeployment
Status: EXPERIMENTAL. Model complexity: HIGH.
A reported death, disappearance or public exit is not termination but removal from one visible role, followed by off-grid survival or later redeployment.
Expected markers
- disputed death circumstances
- missing or ambiguous evidence
- later sightings
- sudden archive anomalies
- identity recurrence after exit
- unusual institutional behaviour around the disappearance
Contradictions
- NO_EXIT_EVENT — extraction invoked with no corresponding death or disappearance
- death circumstances ordinary and well documented
- no post-exit recurrence of any kind
Conventional alternative
An ordinary death poorly reported, and the human tendency to refuse an anticlimactic ending for a significant figure.
If true, expect
- a documented exit event to extract FROM
- post-exit recurrence carrying markers from before it
- institutional behaviour around the exit that the ordinary account does not explain
Compatible with: M02, M03, M04, M08
EXIT_EVENT ≠ EXTRACTION_EVENT. A public death or disappearance is not itself evidence of extraction.
M08 — Split Frequency
Status: EXPERIMENTAL. Model complexity: EXTREME.
One prior source identity or frequency branches into several later identities, roles or manifestations, rather than continuing one-to-one. The existing JFK Jr. material already approaches this, proposing multiple later cultural vectors rather than a single successor.
Expected markers
- multiple successors
- split archetypal functions
- partial resemblance distributed across several subjects
- one prior role decomposed across later roles
Contradictions
- SPLIT_MODEL_WITHOUT_BRANCHING_EVIDENCE — branching asserted with nothing to support it
- invoked only because one-to-one continuity failed
Conventional alternative
A large cultural figure leaving an influence broad enough that several later figures inherit different pieces of it.
If true, expect
- each branch carrying a distinct, identifiable portion of the original
- the branches appearing around a common point rather than scattered
- branching evidence independent of the failure of simpler models
Compatible with: M04, M05, M06, M07
MODEL_ESCALATION_WARNING. This mechanism must not be invoked merely because one-to-one continuity fails, or it becomes an automatic escape hatch.
A theory should not grow a new branch every time a timeline objects.
M09 — Cultural Recursion / Lookalike
Status: CONTROL. Model complexity: LOW.
No supernatural continuity is required. Humans and institutions reproduce similar faces, behaviours, roles, symbols and narratives on their own.
Expected markers
- ordinary resemblance
- repeated branding
- genre conventions
- family resemblance
- cultural archetypes
- repeated photography and styling choices
- confirmation bias or image-selection effects
Contradictions
- a specific marker survives that ordinary resemblance does not account for
- the pattern holds after angle, styling, era and selection are corrected for
If true, expect
- the resemblance weakening once photographs are angle-matched
- comparable resemblance findable among unrelated controls
- no residue left after ordinary explanations are applied
Compatible with: M04
Tension with: M02, M03, M05, M06, M08
Ordinary resemblance remains embarrassingly productive.
